Since 2020, Meta-MAT.org has been organizing a highly successful series of online webinars in response to the global shift toward virtual engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic. These webinars have helped maintain strong scientific interaction and knowledge exchange within the metamaterials community at a time when in-person events were not feasible.
Over the past few years, MetaMAT has hosted around 200 invited speakers and built a vibrant network of more than 1,200 active and registered followers from across the globe. These events have featured leading experts and emerging voices in the field, covering a wide range of topics related to acoustic, mechanical, and thermal metamaterials, as well as the mathematical and numerical frameworks that support their development.
Supported by prestigious institutions including Imperial College London, the UK Acoustics Network (UKAN) and the Université Marie et Louis Pasteur (Besançon), MetaMAT has become a recognized hub for scientific exchange in the metamaterials community.
With the return of safe in-person gatherings, we believe the time is ripe to organize an onsite conference. This event will aim to reinvigorate our community, deepen collaborations, and stimulate fresh discussions around the theoretical, experimental, and applied aspects of metamaterials. It will serve as a natural and timely evolution of MetaMAT’s mission to connect and advance the field through collective knowledge-sharing.
The webinar series has featured a rich variety of topics including:
Acoustic, mechanical, and thermal metamaterials
Topological effects in structured media
Wave reciprocity and non-reciprocity
Enriched continuum models and generalized elasticity
